The Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG) has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan for Sanford, Broadway, Lee County, and Morrisville.

As the lead applicant, TJCOG will conduct data and crash analysis, document and coordinate local strategies, and assist with the development of one rural action plan for Lee County and one suburban action plan for Morrisville.

Each pilot community will receive dedicated funds to facilitate elected official education, community-based planning, financial support for 2-3 local community engagement partners, and a feasible safety action plan.

This approach will eliminate duplicative activities, provide capacity to jurisdictions that could not otherwise manage this grant, and identify best practices across differing geographic, demographic, and socioeconomic needs in the region.

Participating communities will also become eligible for additional implementation funds through the program, once action plans have been completed.
