Central Carolina Hospital welcomed the first baby of 2025, born just over two hours into the new year. Baby Emmy, weighing 6 pounds and 12 ounces and measuring 19.25 inches, was delivered to parents Dania and Jose on January 1 at 2:02 am.

The delivery was conducted by Holly Drake, a Certified Nurse Midwife at Central Carolina Women’s Health Center. Dania expressed gratitude for the care received, stating, “We are grateful for the doctors, nurses and staff at CCH who made this experience so special.”

Each year, more than 300 babies are born at Central Carolina Hospital. The Birth Center focuses on providing compassionate maternity care for families in the region. It features five private labor and delivery suites with amenities such as private bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs and sleeper sofas for fathers.

The hospital also has a Level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit offering intermediate care by its Pediatric Hospitalist group to newborns needing supportive care.

Felisha Eskridge, Director of Women’s Services at CCH, said, “We are privileged to help our community’s families welcome their newest additions.” She emphasized the commitment of clinical and support staff to ensuring a safe environment for mothers and babies throughout the year.
