Central Carolina Hospital has successfully received reaccreditation for its heart failure program from the American College of Cardiology (ACC). This follows a comprehensive on-site review conducted on December 10, assessing the hospital's capabilities in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating heart failure patients through various stages of care.
Dave Santoemma, CEO of Central Carolina Hospital, stated, "This distinction recognizes our facility, providers and staff for their demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patient with heart failure. It signifies that CCH is continually making efforts to improve our processes and outcomes for our patients."
Sarah Rick, Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management at the hospital, remarked on the achievement: "This is a significant accomplishment. The ACC’s on-site review encompassed Central Carolina’s Emergency Department and our inpatient units. Achieving this important milestone requires hard work, dedication and teamwork."
Heart failure is described as a chronic condition where the heart fails to pump sufficient blood to meet the body's needs. Hospitals adopting evidence-based approaches have shown success in reducing treatment times and identifying high-risk patients while also minimizing hospital stays and readmissions.
The ACC accreditation process demands hospitals meet strict criteria and organize dedicated teams to enhance patient education and outcomes. The review identifies improved methods for patient care by streamlining processes and implementing best practices.
Deepak L. Bhatt, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board, commented on the reaccreditation: "Central Carolina Hospital has demonstrated its commitment to providing Sanford and Lee County with excellent heart care. ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award CCH with Heart Failure Accreditation."
