At the March 21, 2023, regular meeting of the Sanford City Council, Jean Dabbs was sworn in to represent Ward 5.

Mayor Rebecca Wyhof Salmon administered the oath of office, assisted by Father Matt Garrison.

In introducing Dabbs, Mayor Salmon made the following remarks:

I had the honor to serve Ward 5 for 11 years and during that time I have gotten to know so many amazing people and advocate for things they hold dear.

One of those amazing people is Jean Dabbs. Ms. Dabbs has a broad range of experience professionally, personally, and through her volunteer service. She is analytical, entrepreneurial, caring, and a doer.

I believe Ms. Dabbs will make a valuable contribution to our Council as the next representative of Ward 5, filling my former seat and becoming my representative, too.

Dabbs was appointed by the Council to fill the seat left vacant when Mayor Salmon was elected in 2022.
