The City of Sanford's government offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 26, in observance of Christmas.

Collection Schedules

Leaf, limb, and bulk trash will not run those days. Crews will work to complete scheduled routes next week.

GFL will operate on its regular curbside trash and recycling schedule. Please make sure that all household trash is placed inside your brown waste cart and that all boxes are broken down, flattened, and placed inside your blue recycle cart.

Christmas Tree Disposal

The City of Sanford's solid waste crews will collect real and artificial Christmas trees as part of residential curbside service.

Please note the following:

  • All decorations, including tinsel, nails, lights, ornaments, and stands must be removed from real Christmas trees. Completely stripped real trees will be collected by leaf and limb crews and recycled at our compost facility.
  • Real Christmas trees with any remaining decorations will not be collected as they can damage our equipment and add unknown material to woodchip grindings.
  • Artificial trees will be collected as bulk trash. They do not need to be stripped.
