Chatham County working to fill vacant Zoning Board of Adjustment seat

The Chatham County Zoning Board of Adjustment is looking to fill a vacant post on the governing body while it navigates operating as a government body in the age of COVID-19. 

The board should have a decision soon, as the deadline for applications was April 24. The Zoning Board of Adjustment seat vacant is for County Commissioner District 2, which is central to southwest Chatham County, according to a report in the Chatham Journal News

The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets as needed, typically once or twice per year. The resident selected to fill the vacancy would serve a three-year term expiring May 18, 2023.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment has 10 districts, which are identified as residential, office and industrial, general, neighborhood, community or regional business, and light or heavy industrial. The board has five regular voting members and two alternatives.
