City of Sanford issued the following announcement on Sept. 24.

The City of Sanford, Downtown Sanford, Inc., and the Sanford Area Growth Alliance are pleased to announce One Table…One Depot, a community supper planned for October 17 that will be held on the side street adjacent to Depot Park starting at 5:00 p.m.

One Table…One Depot will be the kick-off event for a capital campaign to raise funds to renovate the historic Sanford Depot building. The goal of the campaign is to turn the building into the home of a state-of-the-art welcome center, and provide offices for Downtown Sanford, Inc. and the Visit Sanford Tourism Development Authority.

“We are thrilled to host this fun event that aims to bring together hundreds of people at one long table for a shared community meal,” says Kelli Laudate, DSI Executive Director. “We hope the supper will encourage everyone to participate in showcasing a piece of our Downtown history.”

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to celebrate Sanford right in Depot Park with a meal prepared by our own downtown chefs and restaurants,” says Joni Martin, event chair and Director at Progressive Contracting. “Together, we can return the Depot to its rightful position of importance in the heart of Downtown, right where it began.”

Local downtown chefs are collaborating on a specially prepared seasonal farm-to-fork menu. Chef Greg Hamm, owner of Café 121 and Libations 139, has taken the lead in organizing a collaborative meal to highlight the best of each participating restaurant. The supper will be family friendly. Tickets are $50 for adults and $20 for children.

The night will also feature a Public Art Dedication by the City of Sanford Appearance Commission. Three new sculptures reflecting our railroad heritage will be unveiled. “The City of Sanford has become an outdoor mecca for the arts, a visual feast for all to enjoy, no matter age, economic standing, religion, race or education,” says Liz Whitmore, historic planner for City of Sanford and liaison to the Appearance Commission. “We hope that everyone enjoys these additions to Depot Park. Art is for everyone!”

The night will conclude with a parade to Steele Street for Downtown Alive! featuring Al Strong and his jazz band along with downtown breweries.
