The Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Foundation has received $1,900 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need.
The CCCC Foundation will use the gift for the Cougar Markets food pantry.
CCCC's food pantry ensures no student goes hungry by being stocked with non-perishable snacks/meal items to temporarily alleviate immediate food insecurity. In cases of persistent lack of access to food, CCCC works with students to connect them to appropriate resources.
"We are grateful for the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation gift for our Cougar Markets here at CCCC," said Dr. Emily C. Hare, CCCC Foundation Executive Director. "No student should be worried about where their next meal is coming from and, with Food Lion's support, we are able to continue to eliminate that barrier for our students by maintaining food pantries on all three campuses. Thank you, Food Lion, for making sure our students have the nutrition they need to succeed!"
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $17 million in grants.
