Resident doctors from the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine battled it out “Jeopardy style” against doctors from around the country and took home first place in the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s annual Golden Scalpel Knowledge Bowl on Oct. 9.
The contest was part of ASDS’s annual meeting held Oct. 6-10 in Denver, Colorado.
Second-year Campbell residents Dr. Jarrett Casale and Abigail Hunter from Sampson Regional Medical Center’s Dermatology Residency program took home the trophy while winning new textbooks for their program. Casale is a 2020 graduate of Campbell’s medical school, while Hunter earned her DO degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
“I’m extremely proud of this accomplishment,” said Dr. Jonathan Crane, director for Sampson Regional’s dermatology residency program. “Our residents beat out residency programs throughout the country, including Ivy League programs.”
