Registration for Sanford 101 Now Open
After a two-year hiatus, the City of Sanford is excited to announce Sanford 101 – previously called Sanford Citizens’ Academy – is now registering for a 2022 session.
First conceived in 2014, Sanford 101’s mission is to educate residents about how their city government functions. At the end of the program, participants should have a greater understanding of how and why municipal decisions are made. The ultimate goal is for residents to be more engaged in and knowledgeable about the decision-making process
The 2022 session will run on Monday evenings for 12 weeks starting July 18. Each week will feature a different department, including police, fire, parks, and economic development. Some standout sessions include trips to the Raleigh Exec Jetport, Sanford Municipal Golf Course, and Central Carolina Enterprise Park.
“We want graduates to understand all the ins and outs of the City and then share their knowledge with the people around them,” explains Mayor Chet Mann. “Our goal is to make Sanford 101 as informative and interactive as possible – and there’s always more to learn,” he says.
Participants will spend time with head staff in each department and be able to ask their most pressing questions. There will also be a special graduation session.
Enrollment is limited to 10 participants to ensure everyone has a rich, unique experience. Registration will end on July 11 or when spaces are full.
