STATEMENT FROM HARNETT COUNTY SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT

May 25th, 2022

Harnett County Schools Families -

Like you, Harnett County Schools is shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas on Tuesday. We are heartbroken for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence.

School should and must be a place where students feel completely safe and secure. As an added precaution, we are working with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office to have an increased law enforcement presence in and around our buildings for the rest of the week.

Over the past few years, we have made significant security and safety investments that include School Resource Officers on all campuses, single-point entrances, upgraded camera and alarm systems, and school classroom additions. Thank you for your continued advocacy and support in ensuring these and future improvements receive the required resources.

We know that students will process this news in different ways. Counselors are available at each of our schools to assist anyone who may need some extra support. We strongly encourage any students to stop by the counseling office at any time.

Please join us in keeping the students, staff, and families of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in our thoughts during this time.

Sincerely,

Dr. Aaron L. Fleming

Superintendent

Harnett County Schools
