City of Sanford Fire Chief Recognized as Hometown Hero

City of Sanford recently issued the following announcement.

Chief Wayne Barber of the Sanford Fire Department was honored on Tuesday, Nov. 16 for being a Hometown Hero by the NC Automobile Dealers Association.

Barber was nominated by John Hiester Automotive. The award ceremony was held at the dealer’s Fuquay-Varina location and the recognition was presented by Sanford Deputy Fire Chief Ken Cotten.

Deputy Chief Cotten’s remarks focused on Chief Barber’s nearly 50 years of service at the Sanford Fire Department, which began on February 14, 1975. In addition to the formal reading of the nomination, Cotten noted that Chief Barber “has served the Sanford community faithfully, generously, and with a giving heart.”
