Wake County Identifies Third COVID-19 Outbreak at Long-Term Care Facility in Wake Forest

Wakecounty

Wake County recently issued the following announcement.

Wake County Public Health has confirmed an outbreak of COVID-19 at Brookdale Wake Forest, an assisted living and memory care facility located at 611 Brook St., Wake Forest.

This is the facility’s third outbreak. The previous outbreaks occurred in January 2021 and May 2020. No additional information about residents or employees within the facility will be disclosed.

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services defines an outbreak as two or more people – residents or employees – testing positive for the virus. Because of the possibility for rapid spread of COVID-19 in long-term settings, NCDHHS shares guidance on the steps these facilities should take following an outbreak.
