Campbell University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 2.

Kim Sanford scored the lone goal of the match with 12:58 remaining to lift East Carolina over visiting Campbell 1-0 Thursday night at Johnson Stadium.

The Pirates (3-2) won their second-straight outing, while Campbell (1-2-1) fell for the first time since opening night.

Sanford finished a chance in the 78th minute when she netted her first goal of the season after a free kick into the Camel box.

ECU finished with a 12-3 edge in shots and took five corner kicks to three for the visitors.  Reaghan Duval made four stops in the nets for Campbell, which has allowed just three goals in its last three outings.

Amber Liston, Hayley Krahenbil and Mary Tierney had shots for the Camels.  CU nearly went in front after 63 minutes when Tierney swung a dangerous cross to the back post, but Reagan Baiotto narrowly missed getting a foot on the ball.

Campbell returns home to the Eakes Athletic Complex Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff vs. Charlotte.  Admission is free.
