Central Carolina Community College recently issued the following announcement.
Central Carolina Community College golf coach Jonathan Hockaday looks forward to coaching the 2021 fall edition of the CCCC golf team.
"I think this year's team has potential to be one of the best teams that CCCC has had," said Coach Hockaday. "Consistency will be a strength of ours. We have a group of guys that work hard and that have a good amount of tournament experience from junior golf and high school."
Members of the team are, with high schools and hometowns listed: Preston Cox (Chatham Central H.S., Bear Creek), Cole McBurnett (Southern Lee H.S., Sanford), Miller Phillips (Jordan-Matthews H.S., Siler City), Noah Ritch (Providence Grove H.S., Climax), Henry Sapienza (Northwood H.S., Chapel Hill), and Braedon Thompson (Cedar Ridge H.S., Hillsborough).
"What excites me the most is the consistency of our top 3-4 guys. I think that they will push each other to become better players and, if that happens, we should have a chance to win some tournaments," said Coach Hockaday. "I think the fall season will be successful if the guys work hard on their game and gain confidence for our spring season. The fall season is our chance to get the freshmen some college tournament experience to have them prepared for the spring season."
The schedule:
Sept. 13-14 - at Flyers Invitational at Longleaf Golf & Family Club (Southern Pines), Sept. 27-28 - Cougar Classic at Quail Ridge Golf Course (Sanford), Oct. 11-12 - at Storm Invitational (Colonial Country Club, Thomasville).
