A recent study ranked Research Triangle Park as the 10th best emerging hub worldwide, and added to that are strong showings from Charlotte and Wilmington.
The study from Startup Genome also determined that The Triangle is the top-ranked startup location in the United States, based on its $10 billion ecosystem value, WRAL.com reported on June 26 about the worldwide rankings.
Named for its location among three Tier 1 Universities, Duke University, North Carolina State, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, The Triangle is now catching the attention of a study put out by Startup Genome, an organization that follows trends in venture capital and startup growth globally.
Startup Genome put Charlotte and Wilmington in the Top 100, highlighting how North Carolina is hard-wired for technology and life science creativity.
“Within the category of mature ecosystems, top contenders are the usual suspects one would expect; Silicon Valley and NYC for example,” Thom Rhue, CEO of the NC IDEA Foundation in Durham, told WRAL Tech Wire. “Rather promising for North Carolina however, is that multiple ecosystems ranked in the top 100 Emerging Ecosystems category.”
Detroit, Michigan and Portland, Oregon also made the list.
