Jonna Hunter, DNP, RN, has been appointed Director of Women’s Services at Central Carolina Hospital. Her role began on February 23 and includes overseeing the hospital’s Birth Center. The center features five private labor and delivery suites with amenities such as private bathrooms with Jacuzzi tubs, sleeper sofas for family members, central monitoring, and in-room infant care areas. It also manages premature labor, fetal surveillance, delivery of term infants, and has a Neonatal ICU. Each year, about 300 babies are delivered at the hospital.
Hunter lives in Seagrove and previously served as Administrative Director for Women’s and Children’s Services at FirstHealth in Pinehurst from 2023 to 2025. Before that, she was Director of Nursing in Women’s and Children’s for Cone Health System in Greensboro between 2016 and 2023. She also worked as Nurse Manager for Metrohealth System in Cleveland from 2010 to 2016 and as Assistant Nurse Manager there from 2007 to 2010.
Hunter is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bowling Green University in Ohio in 2010. In 2016, she received her Master of Nursing Science degree focused on Executive Nursing Leadership from Chamberlain University in Illinois. Six years later, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus on Healthcare Systems Leadership at the same institution.
