Central Carolina Hospital has released its community benefit report for 2024. The annual document details the hospital’s efforts to support health and economic vitality in the region, aligning with its mission to make communities healthier.
Dave Santoemma, CEO of Central Carolina Hospital (CCH), stated, “For more than 115 years, Central Carolina Hospital has been proud to call Sanford and Lee County our home, and as a leader in our community, we are committed to providing high-quality care close to home, investing in our region’s overall well-being and making a positive impact on those we serve.”
The report highlights CCH’s efforts in meeting growing healthcare demands by welcoming new providers and expanding services. In 2024 alone, the hospital added 68 providers across various specialties such as cardiology and emergency medicine. Nearly $5.2 million was invested in capital improvements including ultrasound units and X-ray equipment.
In terms of charitable contributions, CCH donated over $31 million in health services to those unable to pay. Furthermore, it distributed more than $39.3 million in salaries and benefits among its approximately 510 employees while contributing over $62,000 towards professional development.
Additionally, the organization paid $9.5 million in local and state taxes while supporting local entities like Central Carolina Community College Foundation and Downtown Sanford Inc.
Santoemma expressed gratitude for the support from the community stating, “We feel fortunate to call Sanford and Lee County our home… As we look ahead to the future, we remain committed to honoring our legacy while further enhancing the many ways we serve our neighbors and communities.”
