Tara A. Bass, BSN, RN, has been appointed as the Director of Cardiovascular Services at Central Carolina Hospital (CCH). Originally from Chatham County, Bass completed her RN Diploma of Nursing at Watts School of Nursing in Durham, NC, in 2016 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Mount Olive in 2019.
In her new role at CCH, Bass will oversee Cardiovascular Imaging, the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. The department is accredited by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Additionally, CCH was reaccredited by the American College of Cardiology for Heart Failure in 2024 and as a Chest Pain Center in 2023.
Before joining CCH, Bass worked with Duke University Health System as a Clinical Nurse Educator from 2022 to 2023. She also served as Assistant Nurse Manager in the Cardiovascular Procedural Area at Duke University Hospital’s Heart Center from 2016 to 2022 and was part of their Vascular Access Team between 2017 and 2019.
“We are pleased to have such capable leadership in place for our heart program,” said Dave Santoemma, CEO of CCH. “Sanford and Lee County are fortunate to have a cardiac cath lab and a strong cardiac program available close to home. Our capabilities extend well beyond those normally found at a community-based hospital.”
